Sheldon Paul Glass

Sheldon Paul Glass passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 3, 2024. He was born on November 21, 1935, to the late Robert and Beatrice Glass in Cleveland, Ohio. Sheldon attended the University of Toledo, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, was an active member of the AEPi fraternity, and was a proud supporter of the Toledo Rockets, an obsession which continued throughout his life. In 1962, Sheldon moved to Houston with his wife, Ellen, and their two daughters, Andi and Sheryl, where he enjoyed a successful 56-year career as a pharmacist. During their 65 years of marriage, Sheldon and Ellen cherished their travels, especially cruising with dear friends. Sheldon had a knack for capturing these memories through his camera, sharing them with those closest to him. Sheldon, affectionately known as "Poppy" to his family, had a vivid imagination and a gift for storytelling. A man of many passions, he enjoyed flying his plane, reading mystery novels, listening to music, and watching sports—especially cheering on the Houston Astros. Known for his wit and sense of humor, he lovingly doted on his grandchildren, always coming up with unique and memorable nicknames for each of them. In his free time, Sheldon could often be found in his garage, surrounded by his cherished collection of vanity license plates and tools, or in his study, eagerly researching new hobbies and interests. Whether he was repairing a gadget, building something new, or simply puttering around, he found joy in making things work. Sheldon is survived by his wife, Ellen, his two daughters, Andi (Scott) Scheinin and Sheryl (Douglas) Fish, and his brother, Joel (Deborah) Glass. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Lauren, Max and Samantha Scheinin and Sarah and Lindsey Fish. Sheldon will be remembered for his kindness, his curiosity, and, above all, his deep love for his family. A graveside service took place on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet Street, Houston, Texas 77074.
