Robert "Bob" Howard Levey

Robert “Bob” Levey, 61, passed away at his childhood home in Richmond, Texas surrounded by love and cherished memories. Bob was born in Houston, Texas, to Irene Oshman Levey and Maurice Poy Levey on January 25, 1964; the youngest of four children. Bob was many things during his life — a devoted son, fun uncle, and loving brother — and the most loyal and devoted friend. He had such affection for his Fire and Police friends, his amazing neighbors on the street where he lived and the Breakfast Club. Those who knew Bob remember his quick wit, generous heart, unwavering kindness, and ability to help everyone. Professionally, Bob was a gifted and widely respected photographer. Though best known for his work with the Houston Astros, his portfolio spanned professional and collegiate sports, the music industry, fashion, and more. Among his many accomplishments, one of his most celebrated photographs appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated in October 2017 during the Astros’ World Series run — a proud moment for him and those who loved him. Anyone who knew Bob knew how dedicated he was to his work, his love for sports and his Richmond and Houston communities. Above all, Bob was a devoted son to his mother, Irene, whom he lovingly cared for after the passing of his father, Poy. His steadfast love and dedication to his family were hallmarks of his life. Bob is survived by his sister, Susie Bender, and her husband, Scott; his sister, Lori Cohen, and her husband, Mike; and his brother, Jerry Levey, and his wife, Shelley. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces, Jason and Flauren Bender, Steven & Liz Bender, Eric & Holly Bender, Justin Cohen, Kelli & Grant Goza, Lauren & Matthew Kaufman, and Drew & Serena Levey; as well as great nephews and nieces, Jack, Leo & Sally Bender, Max, Rose, & Sam Bender, Miles and Asher Goza, Lulu Levey, and James Kaufman; and a multitude of cousins who adored him deeply. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Sophia and Jack Bender Memorial Chapel at Beth Yeshurun Post Oak Cemetery, 7445 Awty School Lane, Houston, TX 77055.
