Inez Nagel Taylor

Inez Nagel Taylor passed away on Sunday, August 20th, 2023. Inez was born on August 5th, 1942, in Shreveport, LA to her late parents Edward and Louise Nagel and grandparents Morris and Cecile Atlas. Inez is survived by many friends from San Jacinto High which she remained close to and in contact with throughout the years and she was an active member of the Alumni Association which she loved and was very important to her. Inez worked for the late Stephen Brezner DDS for 40 years and gained a special bond with her new family Cindy, Jeannie, Rita, and many others. Inez was involved at Congregation Emanu El from a young age, where she sang in the children’s choir as well as a part of the Sisterhood Catering Committee with her sister Anne and longtime friend Rita Wilkenfeld for over 40 years. Family was very important to Inez. Her relationship with her sister Anne Joachim, was something we all dream of. From day one, they were inseparable and remained that way until her last breath. They had many adventures traveling together, laughed, cried, and never argued. She was very close to her nieces and nephews and loved them as if they were her own. Inez loved animals, especially her fur grandbabies and the rest of the family fur babies. Inez was a huge baseball fan and has been following the Astros since they were the Colt 45’s which is why her last request was to have all attendees at her service wear Astros gear and/or colors. Out of the 162 games she may have missed a few, but somehow was able to go back, watch it no matter what the score was and sometimes, she would watch the rerun several times. Inez is survived by her sister Anne Joachim and the late Robert Joachim. Daughter, Barbara Schragel, grandchildren Bobby and wife Kim, Christopher and wife Lindsay and great grandchildren, Collins, and Wyatt. Son, John James and wife Eva, grandchildren Sarah, John Anthony and wife Victoria, Jackie and husband Erick, great grandchildren Natalee and Ashton. Her longtime companion Bill Taylor and his children Bill Taylor and Jana Charlton. Many thanks to the numerous nurses, doctors, Vitas Hospice Houston and an especially big thank you to the caregivers from Caring Hearts 24/7 for their compassion and love. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 1 PM at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet St., Houston, TX 77074. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Congregation Emanu El Sisterhood or SPCA Houston.
