Barry Marc Wuntch

With full hearts and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Barry Wuntch — a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, friend, and proud Houstonian, who passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025. Born on May 16, 1959, in Houston, Texas, Barry was the youngest son of Israel and Beverly Wuntch and the little brother to Ronald and David. As a child, Barry showed a sharp mind for numbers and a natural warmth that made everyone feel at ease. Barry attended Bellaire High School before heading to the University of Houston and then to the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated from the McCombs School of Business. During college, he joined the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity, forming lifelong friendships that would enrich his life in every season. A proud Texas Ex, Barry carried his Longhorn spirit with him wherever he went — especially on game days. After college, Barry passed the CPA exam and held his first accounting role at Weiner’s Department Store. Shortly after, he founded his own accounting firm, where he served clients with dedication, professionalism, and heart for more than 35 years. Barry served the Greater Houston Chapter of Community Associations Institute as a Board Member for many years and also as a Committee Chair. Barry was meticulous, reliable, and always happy to lend his expertise to help others succeed. But it was his personal life that brought Barry his greatest joy. He met and married the love of his life, Judi, and together they built a beautiful life full of laughter, travel, and deep love. Barry was a devoted partner for 32 years — an amazing husband, supportive father, and doting grandfather. They enjoyed traveling, which always included golf throughout the U.S. and Europe. Barry coached and encouraged Brandon through every stage of life — from baseball fields to a successful career in commercial real estate, and now as a father and husband himself. Barry loved watching sports — especially Longhorn football and golf — and loved sharing that passion with Brandon. He was an avid golfer, enjoying regular rounds at Wildcat with Charlie and also at Walden Golf Club. He loved spending time with special friends, Arthur, Doug, Darryl, Bob, Chuck, Brad, and many others. Barry enjoyed spending time at the family lake house, where he kept an amazing collection of vinyl records. With music filling the air, the lake house brought him so much joy. He loved fishing and spending time with family and friends there. Barry was a devoted member of Congregation Beth Yeshurun, where he found spiritual strength and connection. He treasured his lunches with Rabbi Strauss, where they spoke openly about faith, family, politics, and the ever-reliable ups and downs of Houston sports. Barry found joy in the small, meaningful moments: teaching his granddaughter Lainey how to play chess, watching her make challah on Fridays with Judi, and eagerly awaiting the arrival of his grandson. His love for his family knew no bounds. Barry is preceded in death by his parents, Israel and Beverly, and his brothers Ronald and David. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judi; his son, Brandon, and daughter-in-law, Marlie; his granddaughter Lainey; his soon-to-be-born grandson; sister-in-law Carolyne Massey and her four children Katie (Jeff), Alison, Genevieve, and Jones; sister-in-law Katie Wuntch and her three children Marcus, Zev, and Rachel; and his loyal dog Bash. A funeral service will take place on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 10:00 am in the Sophia and Jack Bender Memorial Chapel at Beth Yeshurun Post Oak Cemetery, 7445 Awty School Lane, Houston, Texas 77055. A luncheon will immediately follow at Congregation Beth Yeshurun, 4525 Beechnut Street, Houston, Texas 77096. Shiva will be held that evening at 7:30 pm, in the Greenfield Chapel at Beth Yeshurun. All who knew and loved Barry are welcome to attend and celebrate the remarkable life he lived.
