William (Cass) Ralph Platter

William Ralph Platter, otherwise known as Cass, age 79, passed away peacefully (and after surviving cancer) and struggling with many health issues for several years. Born in Boone, Iowa to his parents, Pauline and Ralph Platter. He is survived by Bonnie Bloom Platter, her daughters and sons-in-laws, Suzanne (David) Slavin and Stephanie (Trey) Weiss, grandchildren, Tiffany (Richard) Cortez, Sidney and Samantha Weiss, and great grandchildren, Ashton, and Audrey Cortez. Cass lived a life filled with many adventures including boating, building his own home on Lake Houston, building award winning hot rods over the years, and his world-famous BBQ grilling and secret sauce. (Only Bonnie knows that recipe). Cass always enjoyed being the center of attention whether it was his fancy cars, matching fur jackets and jewelry with Bonnie, to his custom-made tailored suits with matching wing tipped shoes, tie, and handkerchief. There is also another side of Cass that most everyone saw daily which included wearing his hot rod T-shirts and shorts, with a cigar always in hand. He loved the outdoors and family/friends enjoyed coming out to the house. It was a fun time for all. Cass met numerous famous entertainers & friends over the years being involved with The Theatre Under the Stars productions, Rodeo performances and Southern Star Astroworld Theater, being a stuntman for movies, and selling wax products on the weekends at the hot rod shows with Bonnie always by his side. For working the shows, Bonnie always knew she would be awarded a fabulous steak dinner and a shopping trip to the local boutique . To those of you who were always a friend to Cass, and you know who you are – he truly treasured your friendship. He always said that she was not only the most beautiful lady he knew, but the smartest woman he knew. She helped him invest his earnings to create a nest egg. His final wish was to make sure that Bonnie knew that he loved her till his dying day. He said this to her last week. A graveside funeral service was held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Congregation Beth Israel Memorial Garden, 1101 Antoine Dr., Houston, Texas 77055.
