Terry Woskow

Terry Woskow, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to all, passed peacefully at her home in Austin, Texas, on Thursday, February 16, 2023, in the presence of her loving family. Terry was predeceased by her husband, Marvin of 51 years, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Myles and Sylvia and Alan and Harriet, as well as many other beloved family members too numerous to name, all of whom we are certain she is sharing a warm hug with right about now. Terry was fortunate to have loved and been loved by two outstanding men. She is survived by her life partner, Steve Breslauer, her children and their partners, Joe and Linda, Nancy and Michael, Beth and Steve and David and Elizabeth. She is also survived by all her perfect grandchildren, Bryan and Wanna, Michelle and Jon, Jessica, Samantha, Jake, Rachel, Eddie, Lilly and William and greatgrandchildren, Eleanor, Caris, Everly and Baby Kyra Lan, who were the light of her life and the treasure in her heart. There are so many nieces, nephews, ‘favorite’ cousins (you know who you are), and friends, here there and everywhere who were so special to her. Terry attended both Oklahoma University and the University of Texas, then moved to Houston, where she and Marvin met and fell in love, and started their family. Terry loved being a mother. Her warm, nurturing, level-headed nature and child-rearing style healed many a boo boo, argument, or broken heart. She always seemed to know how to take care of things, with a knack for numbers and business, a kind and logical approach to problem-solving, creativity and a sharp wit. She was home every day for us when we came home from school, and supported and loved us throughout our childhood, regardless of whether or not she agreed with us. Her smile would light up a room; and her warm spirit was palpable by those who knew her. She was the glue that brought all of the family members together for birthdays, holidays, girls trips, shopping days, nail appointments and boy, could she ever throw a party. Terry used to say, “Being silly with a friend is the best therapy.” Her friends could attest to that. There was nothing she loved more than hanging with her friends at mah jong on Tuesdays or playing bridge at Wonderful Wednesdays. Lifelong friendships were built and maintained, and Terry cherished each and every one of them. Her relationships with her children, grandchildren and friends were intimate with deep connections. She spent individual time and vacations with each of her grandkids, making each feel like they were her favorite. She dedicated her time and money to important causes, and supported those in her life that she felt needed a leg up. A few years after Marvin passed, Terry met Steve and spent the next decade laughing, learning, travelling and truly enjoying her life again. They were inseparable for twelve wonderful years. After she suffered a series of illnesses and hospitalizations, Steve taught Terry so much about living life and supported her in every way. Theirs was a beautiful love affair. A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Sunday, February 19th at the Beth Yeshurun Post Oak cemetery located at 1037 Post Oak Rd. in Houston, Texas. Memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers to either of Terry’s favorite organizations: MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston or Ben Gurion University in Israel.
