Stella Nestadt Blumenthal

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Stella Nestadt Blumenthal passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in Houston, Texas at the age of 84. Stella was born on August 5, 1941, in Johannesburg, South Africa to the late Saul and late Faye Nestadt. She is survived by her loving husband, Gerald, of 61 years, her daughters, Tracey Blumrosen (Dean), and Shelley Kaplan (Meyer), and grandchildren, Leah Kaplan and her fiancé, Asi Zaror, Shira Kaplan, Benjamin Kaplan, Jenna Blumrosen, and Mikayla Kugler. Stella moved to Houston, Texas, in 1978 with Gerald and her three daughters, where they established themselves in the community. She loved helping others and worked as a preschool teacher, counselor, and senior living case manager at Goldberg Towers. She believed in giving back to her community and volunteered in numerous capacities, including Celebration Company, which held a special place in her heart. Above all, Stella was devoted to her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than being with family, including aunts, cousins, siblings, children, and grandchildren. Judaism was extremely important to Stella. She loved Israel and would listen to podcasts and videos about Israel often. She was an amazing cook who loved having her family all around the Shabbat table. Stella was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Lauren Kugler, her parents, brother, Arnold Nestadt, and sister, Valerie Stanley. The staff and residents at Morningstar at River Oaks were so kind and the family is so grateful for the wonderful care they provided. The family feels blessed to have had amazing physicians, including Dr. Charu Agrawal, Dr. Mothaffar Rimawi, and Dr. Sunjay Devarajan, and all of their amazing staff. The funeral will be held in the Kagan-Rudy Chapel at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8431 Bissonnet St, Houston, Texas, at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Rabbi Lazer Lazaroff will officiate. Shiva Minyan Service will be announced at the funeral and will take place at 5:15 PM. Donations can be made to Aishel House at AishelHouse.org or mailed to 1955 University Blvd. Houston, TX 77030. Stella really believed in their mission to take care of people with medical conditions who had to be away from home.
