Sidney Aron

Sidney Aron, 86 passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. Sidney was the third of five children born to Esidore and Orina Aron in Goose Creek, TX. Sidney graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1947. After graduating, he studied in Paris and briefly attended the University of Texas at Austin. At the age of 20, he met and subsequently married Betty Rosenberg. Together they were blessed with four children, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Betty and the kids were the joy of his life. Aside from being known as a family man, he was also known to have a strong work ethic. Starting at the age of 12, Sidney began working, and being the "Renaissance Man" that he was he became a milliner, a clothier, a fine furniture purveyor, and real estate broker. Sidney was an active member of Congregation Beth Yeshurun for over 65 years. He proudly served on the museum committee helping to acquire, arrange, and polish beautiful Judaica in Beth Yeshurun's Museum for years. Sidney was predeceased by his adoring wife of 64 & ½ years, Betty Aron, his parents, two sisters and a grandson. He is survived by his brother, Hertzel (Dorita) Aron, and Bernadean Rosenblatt and four children, Sondra Rosenthal, Lisa (Elliot) Finkelstein, Howard Aron, and Diane (Lewis) Reich. He is survived by his grandchildren, Adam Caplan (Elizabeth), KR Caplan, Jennifer Valdez (Carlos), Miriam (Matt) Block, Julie (Alessandro) Steinhaus, Melanie (Gavin) Rade, Emily (Jaye) Kissler, Stuart Aron, Isaac Reich and 7 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the countless doctors who cared for him over the years including Dr. Roberto Lufschanowski & his colleagues, Dr. Shari Rubin, Dr. Luis Camacho, Dr. Nery Flores, Dr. James Herlihy, and Dr. Thomas Nichols. The family would also like the thank the wonderful nurses who cared for him around the clock in the last months of his life, Matry Session, Tammy Lavine, Hope Dotson, Vandetta Levingston and Houston Hospice. Finally, the family thanks Julia Ornelas, who lovingly worked for the Aron family for the past 19 years. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 18, 2015, at 3:00pm, at Congregation Beth Yeshurun, 4525 Beechnut. Private burial to follow. Contributions in his memory should be made to Congregation Beth Yeshurn's Museum or a charity of your choice.
