Sheldon Morton Neider

Sheldon "Shelly" Neider was born in Richmond Virginia on April 5, 1941 to Sarah and Maynard. He was the oldest of three children. From Richmond the family moved to Norfolk, Virginia before settling in Columbia, South Carolina. When he was five, he was diagnosed with polio and spent an entire year in an iron lung. Miraculously, after a year, the polio went away with no lasting side effects. When he was a teenager he meet the love of his life, Susan. They spent the next 53 years celebrating life! His mission in life was to make her happy. They traveled the world together. They loved to dance together, especially shagging. He and Susan had 3 children while he was in school at the University of South Carolina. He went to school and worked to take care of his family. After visiting a college buddy that had moved to Houston, while in their twenties, him and Susan moved to Houston in the 60s with 3 kids in tow. Shelly had a tremendous drive to be successful. After moving to Houston, Shelly began his career as a certified financial planner eventually starting his own business. He worked tirelessly to always make sure his family was taken care of. Shelly had a passion for Rotary. He spent countless years being a Rotarian. Later in life he became passionate about cats. Gizmo became his companion after losing Susan. He is preceded in death by his wife Susan Kline Neider. He is survived by his children, son David Neider and his wife Carol, daughter Sharon Neider and partner, Diane Larsen and his daughter Donna Neider Wright. He was blessed to have many grandchildren- Hunter, Elizabeth and Harrison Wright, Levi Strauss (Rachel) and Dustin Neider (Bonnie). He was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Leo, Goldie, Brianna and Kaitlyn. His brother Jerry Neider (Beth), sister Kaye Greene (Ron) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank Denise and Rochelle for the loving care they gave to Shelly. We'd also like to thank his friends that drove across town every Monday night, in Houston traffic, to have dinner with him. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Rotary or Texas Children's Hospital.
