Michael William Pasternak

Michael William Pasternak, beloved dad, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, and dear friend passed away on June 22, 2021, at the age of 80. He was born May 11, 1941 in Brooklyn to Helen and Harry Pasternak. After graduating from Lafayette High School, he enrolled at the University of Texas and graduated from Long Island University in New York. He spent most of his adult life in Texas where he lived for many decades. Michael was blessed with two sons, Scott and Kevin, and their spouses, Liz and Allison, whom he cherished as daughters. His pride and joy were his grandchildren Isabella, Jake, Will and Lara, who affectionately called him "BopBop." He enjoyed a special relationship with each of his children and grandchildren, and they will always cherish the bond they shared. Michael married Maxine Epstein in in 2019. Although their time together was short, they enjoyed being part of the Chabad Community. With a passion for cooking, Michael loved trying new recipes. His creative style and zest for entertaining was enjoyed with friends and family. With a deep commitment to Judaism, he cherished being a part of the Chabad of Uptown community, as well as serving as the synagogue's Shamash (assistant for the services). For many years, Michael was a member of the Rotary Club of Houston and served as a member of the Planning Committee for the Rotary Lombardi Award. He also helped others through his decades of donating blood to the Houston Blood Center. Michael's career spanned many decades in New York and Texas in the banking, retail and financial industries. He served as an executive officer for multiple Texas banks, owned a kitchen/cooking store and worked for multiple insurance companies helping customers with their financial planning needs. Michael is also survived by brother-in-law Leon Toubin, first wife Terry, and many loving, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mimi Toubin. Graveside services will be held at the Beth Jacob Cemetery in Houston on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 10:00am.
