Marc Allen Gorewitz

Marc Allen Gorewitz, 56, loving husband, father, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend passed away at home after a sudden illness on May 27, 2023. Born on January 14, 1967, in Fresno, California to Don and Judy Gorewitz, Marc and his siblings grew up in Houston and he graduated from Lee High School in 1985. Marc proudly graduated from University of Texas at Austin in 1989 where he double majored in MIS and Accounting. Marc married Lori Gerson in August of 1993 and they had 2 beautiful daughters, Sydney and Whitney. Marc and Lori loved to travel, and they especially enjoyed Greece and Yellowstone/Grand Tetons. Marc loved to visit his relatives in Denver. Marc was blessed with many close friends, including his pallbearers Kendall Lock, Craig Butterworth, William Psillas and Al Eckland. Marc loved cycling, playing pickleball, working in the yard, cheering for the Astros and the Longhorns and using Quicken and creating financial spreadsheets. He loved to watch the Walking Dead, The Last Kingdom and Friends (his doppelganger is David Schwimmer). Marc watched his father Don take great care of his parents Bill and Elaine in their later years and hoped to be as good of a caregiver to Don and Judy as Don was to his parents. Marc excelled in that role and took great care of everything for Judy and Don in their final years. He always put other people before himself. Marc was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Judy Gorewitz. Marc is survived by his wife Lori of almost 30 years, his daughter Sydney and fiance Hunter Burke, and daughter Whitney, his sister in law Ellen Gerson Tagtmeier, sister Lisa Brill and her husband Sam, brother Josh Gorewitz and his wife Erica, nieces Sarah and Carson and nephews Daniel, Parker, Jordan and Ari and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Dr. Marnie Rose foundation or charity of your choice. Marc was very loved and will be greatly missed. May Marc’s memory be a blessing. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day … unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear. A funeral service was held Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 11 AM in the Kagan-Rudy Chapel at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet St., Houston, TX 77074.
