Lori Crider

Lori Crider, 82, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in Houston, Texas. She was resting at home and surrounded by loving family when her courageous years-long battle with chronic illnesses came to an end. Lori loved cats and the colors pink and fire-engine red. But most of all she loved people, and they loved her in return. She often told her children and grandchildren that she would love them no matter what, even if they committed unspeakable crimes. Thank goodness no one put that pledge to the test. Lori Jane Aronsohn was born on July 7, 1944, in Paterson, New Jersey, to Helen and Howard M. Aronsohn, and graduated from Eastside High School. After some college coursework, she married Ken Arnold, had two sons, and worked as a nurse. Ken’s career in the oil business took the family from New Jersey to New Orleans and finally to Houston in 1975. After a divorce, she met her true soul mate, John Crider, and embraced his daughter and two sons to form a blended family. Lori and John married in 1978, and their marriage lasted for the rest of her life. While John worked with computer technologies at Shell Oil Company for 35 years, Lori found long-term employment and lifelong friendships as a bookkeeper for an industrial equipment supplier. After retiring, John and Lori embarked on a 10-year odyssey of full-time RV-ing, traveling all over the country. Lori made deep friendships with just about everyone she encountered, including beloved caregivers who helped during the last months of her life. Nearly all of these caregivers told family members they felt an instant connection with Lori when they first met. We offer special thanks to her amazing care manager, Erin Hawkins, as well as caregivers Stephanie Cloud, Imelda Casique, Shannon Espinoza, Jessica Castillo-Mireles, Naomi Ledezma, and Maureen Gaspar. All who knew her will treasure the immense love and emotional support she offered without limitation or reservation. Lori is survived by her beloved husband, John Crider, her five children and stepchildren, Mark Arnold (Marci), David Arnold (Avigayl Young), Michael Crider (Anne Forrest), Karen Crider (Bryan Bleil), and Matthew Crider (Molly), and her nine grandchildren: Alyssa, Jacob, Braden, Carly, Becca (Bella), Bria, Daniel, Izzy, and Owen. She was preceded in death by her grandson Nathan. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 pm on Sunday, August 16, in the Kagan-Rudy Chapel at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet St, Houston, 77074. A graveside interment will follow. After the interment, Mark and Marci Arnold will host a Shiva minyan at 6 pm at their home.
