Linda Turboff

Linda Turboff passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026. She was born on February 15, 1957, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Max and Sarah Lee Marks, and was raised in Houston alongside her younger brother, Douglas Marks. From an early age, Linda stood out as a natural athlete. She was a nationally ranked tennis player throughout her teenage years and she and her doubles partner at Memorial High School, brought home three State Championships. Her competitive spirit, discipline, and love of the game stayed with her long after her playing days. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she formed one of the most important friendships of her life with Amy Rosenberg. Their bond never faded, and decades later, after Linda returned to Houston, the two continued their tradition of weekly lunches, something Linda deeply cherished. After college, Linda moved to San Antonio, where she became known as "Coach Linda" at St. Mary's Hall. She spent more than two decades in San Antonio, building a life centered around her family and her community. During these years, Linda devoted herself fully to raising her children, Bradford A. Kaufman and Morgan L. Kaufman. She poured her energy, love, and attention into creating a home filled with warmth, stability, and encouragement. She was a constant presence in their lives, shaping not only their childhood but continuing to support and guide them into adulthood. Her San Antonio years were also marked by meaningful friendships, including Fay Seeman and Janet Holliday, who remained important parts of her life. In later years, Linda returned to Houston, where she built a successful and fulfilling career at Deutsch Fine Jewelry. She was highly respected for her talent, dedication, and strong work ethic, and her colleagues became an important part of her life. She formed lasting relationships there, including a close friendship with Diana Garcia, and took great pride in the work she did. Later in life, Linda found her greatest love in her husband, Ronnie Turboff. Their relationship was the center of her world, just as she was his. They were introduced through her childhood friend, Janis Zinn, Ronnie's sister, who helped reconnect them when the timing in their lives aligned. When Linda moved back to Houston, their life together quickly became one filled with joy, comfort, and deep companionship. Linda and Ronnie shared a life built on the simplest and most meaningful moments. They loved spending evenings at home, sitting together in the kitchen, listening to Chicago's greatest hits playing loudly through the house. They enjoyed golfing together, spending time at the Houstonian, discovering favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and surrounding themselves with the large and loving group of friends who became family. Through Ronnie, Linda gained not only a partner but an extended family of siblings and loved ones who embraced her fully. Linda was first and foremost a devoted mother and, more recently, a proud grandmother. Her newest and most cherished role was being "Lovie" to her granddaughter, Elizabeth. That role brought her immeasurable joy. She adored Elizabeth, and being her grandmother gave her a happiness that was both deep and lasting. Linda will be remembered for her warmth, her loyalty, her strength, and the way she made people feel seen and cared for. She built a life centered on love, for her family, her friends, and the everyday moments that brought people together. Linda was preceded in death by her father, Max Marks. She is survived by her mother, Sarah Lee; her brother, Doug; her children, Brad (Jennifer) and Morgan; her granddaughter, Elizabeth; and her beloved husband of 18 years, Ronnie Turboff. She is also survived by her many extended family members and dear friends. A private burial will be held.
