Judith Grossman

Judith “Judy” Grossman, aged 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024, in Houston, Texas. Born on August 6, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Gilbert and Adele Applebaum, Judy grew up in Detroit and graduated from Central High School in 1952. Shortly thereafter, she began her career in real estate before marrying Marvin Grossman in 1955. Their son, Steven, was born in 1957, and in 1963, the family relocated to Houston, where Judy met many of her lifelong friends. In the early 1970s, Judy began working at Neiman Marcus in the Houston Galleria. She quickly made a name for herself as a fashion consultant, dressing movie stars, business leaders, and the city’s best-dressed women. Known for her impeccable taste and elegance, Judy became the go-to fashion advisor for over 50 years. There wasn’t a wedding or Bar Mitzvah in town without her fashion influence, and her clients knew they could count on her to make them look tasteful and fashionable, always receiving the highest compliments. Beyond her career, Judy was a passionate sports fan and a devoted dog lover. One of her greatest pleasures later in life was dining out at her favorite Houston restaurants, where she and her sister, Darlene, were well-known regulars. At many of Houston’s most iconic eateries, the sisters were beloved by staff and patrons alike. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin, and Baby Boy Grossman. She is survived by her sister, Darlene Reiner, her son, Steven, and his wife, Jill, her granddaughter Evan David and her husband Brandon David, her grandson Hayden Grossman and his wife Vanessa, and her great-grandchildren Avery, Logan, and Shaya. Judy will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, generosity, and impeccable style will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
