Helen Maxine Morgenstern

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Morgenstern, age 36, on Friday, April 5, 2024. Helen was born on February 14th, 1988, to Joan Bogucki and Raymond Morgenstern in Minneapolis, Minnesota. To say Helen was a loyal friend was an understatement. Once Helen knew you her affection for you was boundless. Helen was sentimental in every sense of the word. She felt incredibly deeply and with all her heart on matters large and small. Helen was a dedicated teacher at Bertha Alice Early Childhood Education School of the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center, and her work was incredibly important to her. She loved being a part of her children’s lives and devoted many hours to making her classroom an engaging environment where each child she taught could thrive. In addition to people, Helen’s devotion to animals was never ending. In fact, she considered animals people too. She had a passion for horses and cared for the pets of many families in the Houston area. Helen loved her family unconditionally. She strove to create new traditions that she could participate in with family members and loved to bring lunch to her youngest sibling, Lielle, where they would eat outside on the picnic tables at Poe Elementary. Some of her happiest moments over the past year were going to see Taylor Swift with her sisters and participating in her stepsister Cassie’s wedding. She loved to visit Minnesota to see her mother, Joan, and her many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She loved the Minnesota State Fair, where she claimed no better corn could be found. She was planning to visit at the end of the month, which coincided with Independent Bookstore Day, books being another great passion in her life. Helen is survived by her mother, Joan Bogucki, father, Raymond Morgenstern, stepmother, Jill Morgenstern, siblings, Lielle Morgenstern, Jared Gonzales, and Cassie Gonzales, and the many, many children of Houston whose lives Helen enriched with her teaching. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, April 9 at 4:30 pm in the Kagan Rudy Chapel at Emanu El Memorial Park.
