Gayle Rockoff

Gayle Halpin Rockoff, passed away on Tuesday, August 8th at the age of 70. She was born on September 20, 1952, in Houston, Texas, to Harry and Marilyn Halpin. In March of 1976, Gayle married the love of her life, Richard Rockoff and remained married for 47 wonderful years. Gayle had two children she adored, Brettne and Jared. Gayle’s passion was her community and worked for the Jewish Community Center of Houston for over 41 years until her retirement in 2016. Gayle is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Richard Rockoff; daughter Brettne Hemley and husband Andrew; son Jared and wife Lindsey; and her beloved grandchildren Myca Hemley, Harrison Hemley, Jackson Rockoff, Preston Rockoff and Grayson Rockoff. Brother Dr. Robert Halpin and wife Dee Dee, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gayle was raised in Houston Texas, graduating from Bellaire High School. She received her degree in Organizational Psychology from the University of Houston. After a short stint working for B’nai Brith Youth Organization, Gayle started a long, illustrious career with the Jewish Community Center of Houston, working across multiple facets of the organization for just over 41 years. One of Gayle’s proudest achievements while at the JCC, was her development of the early childhood program. A mentor and supervisor to many, Gayle was a positive influence on many careers. In her retirement years, her greatest joy was seeing or facetiming her grandchildren. Not a conversation would go by without her doting on them. The family would like to thank her care givers Carla and Nell for their attentive care and services rendered so lovingly to our sweet Gayle.
