Evan Ross Bookstaff

Evan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in Houston, Texas. He was a beloved son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson, friend, classmate, colleague, and mentor. Evan was born in Houston, Texas, on January 19, 1989. He attended Bellaire High School and The University of Texas. After his undergraduate studies, Evan worked at Deloitte and then continued his education at SMU Law and Business Schools. With his degrees, he was employed by FTI Consulting where he excelled and became Managing Director. Evan lived life to the fullest, had a natural intellectual curiosity, and always experienced life’s joys and obstacles with a great sense of humor and a positive attitude. Words cannot begin to express how much Evan achieved in his shortened life. His accomplishments included scholastic awards, rapid career progression, and being a leader in his community. He loved his extensive travels, going to sporting events, and watching movies, sports, and TV shows. What he was most proud of and will be remembered for are the personal relationships he forged along the way. Evan was first diagnosed in 2015 with a rare form of cancer. He continued his battle throughout the rest of his life. While Evan never wanted to be defined by his illness or condition, he continuously demonstrated good humor and a positive attitude that inspired and will continue to inspire his family, friends, classmates, and colleagues. Evan is survived by his parents, Howard and Karen, his siblings, Taylor Guld and Jordan Bookstaff, and their significant others, Justin Guld and Hanna Glanzman. The family is grateful for the tremendous support they have received in the community. The family is also grateful to the caregivers at MD Anderson, who have been a source of support and comfort over the past 8 years. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 12th, 2023, at 11:30 AM at Congregation Beth Israel, 5600 N. Braeswood, Houston, Texas, 77096 with Rabbi Adrienne Scott officiating. A private graveside will be held.
