Dr. Jerry Allen Argovitz

Jerry was a renowned figure in the world of sports and a true pioneer, has passed away at the age of 85. His departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Born and raised in Borger, Texas, Jerry dedicated his life to the pursuit of excellence in everything he ever did. Upon graduating from Borger High School, he attended the University of Texas. Jerry earned his dental degree from University of Missouri at Kansas City and over a 8 year dental career he built a successful practice in general dentistry, and served as the President of the Academy of General dentistry. Jerry’s impact on the sports industry is still recognized today. As a sports agent, he represented forty of the top athletes in the NFL, helping them navigate the complexities of contracts and negotiations. He took young athletes with very little opportunity and difficult financial challenges and helped them realize their dreams. In addition to his work as an agent, Jerry also made significant contributions as a team owner. In 1984-85, Jerry became a co-founder of the Houston Gamblers, a professional football team in the United States Football League (USFL). His leadership and vision were instrumental in the success of the team and the upstart league, which team became a beloved part of Houston's sports history. In his later years, Jerry wanted to give back to the youth of today and developed a mentoring program specifically for at risk and underprivileged youth. In the early 2010’s, Jerry created J.A.S.I., the Jerry Argovitz Sports Institute who’s curriculum is currently being implemented in several high schools around the state of California providing these students all of the necessary life tools they will need to become successful. In his personal life, Jerry was a loving husband, father, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. He leaves behind 3 children Brent, Ricky and Kari as well as two grandchildren Jacob and Grayson. Today, as we say farewell to Jerry, we celebrate his remarkable legacy and the indelible mark he left on the world of sports and those who loved him . His passion, integrity, commitment and unwavering dedication will continue to inspire many for generations to come. May his soul forever rest in peace.
