Diana Racusin

Diana Racusin, whose brilliant mind was matched only by her compassionate heart, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the age of 41, bringing an end to her courageous, yearlong battle with breast cancer. Born on March 26, 1984, in Lviv, Ukraine, she was the cherished first child of Malvina and Alex Keselman. She brought strength and dedication to all her roles in life as a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, physician, leader, aunt, and friend. Diana’s brilliance and passion for medicine shaped a remarkable career dedicated to the care of mothers and babies. She graduated from the Texas Academy of Math and Science before attending Rice University and then UT Southwestern Medical School. She went on to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Upon graduation, she joined McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where she rapidly advanced to serve as the Berel Held, MD, Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences; Associate Professor of Maternal-Fetal Medicine; Division Director of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division; Assistant Chief Medical Officer for OBGYN at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Texas Medical Center; and Associate Residency Program Director. Diana approached patient care with unwavering dedication and exceptional skill. As a maternal-fetal medicine specialist, she guided high-risk pregnancies toward successful outcomes with both clinical excellence and profound empathy. She formed instant, meaningful connections that extended far beyond the examination room. When confronted with medical complexity, Diana never wavered—her commitment to her patients drove her to overcome any obstacle standing between them and optimal care. This steadfast determination mirrored the personal strength she demonstrated throughout her own health journey. As Division Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, she led with integrity and vision, earning not just the admiration, but the deep respect of her colleagues. Those who worked alongside her drew inspiration from her dedication and positivity. In her role as Assistant Chief Medical Officer at Memorial Hermann, she worked to improve hospital operations, always with an emphasis toward patient care. She was also committed to serving the community, frequently providing education classes for expectant mothers, through which she formed many cherished friendships. Yet, for all her professional accomplishments, Diana’s greatest joy was her family and friends. She was an adoring mother to her two sons and a loving wife, embracing every moment that she spent with them. Diana had a rare gift for forging deep, meaningful connections, making lifelong friends wherever she went. She approached life with the utmost passion, positivity, and determination. Diana loved entertaining and bringing people together over her plentiful, delicious, homemade food. Her fun-loving, generous nature was a source of joy to all those around her. Diana is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Malvina Keselman. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael; her treasured sons, Jacob and David; her father, Alex Keselman; her sister, Maggie Wilkes (Travis) and their children, Evelyn and Noah; mother and father-in law, Jill and Barry Racusin; and brother-in-law, Philip Racusin (Amanda), and their daughter, Madeline. She is also survived by many loving relatives and cousins. Diana’s light continues to shine through the countless lives she touched. Her legacy of love, compassion, warmth, generosity, excellence, and unwavering strength will continue to inspire all who knew her.
