Daniel Robert Weiss

We lost the light of our lives, Daniel Robert Weiss (49), on August 7, 2018. Daniel was born on March 14, 1969, in Cleveland, Ohio to Marilou Rippner-Cades and Leon Alan Weiss. He is survived by his parents, Marilou Rippner-Cades and Melvin Cades of Houston, Texas; Leon Weiss and Ellie Wolf of Cleveland, Ohio; Roberta Harris of Houston, Texas and John Kay Harris of Houston, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Kay Weiss, and beloved children Lewis, Hannah, Sophie, Miles and Talia Weiss. He is survived by his grandmother, Edith Weiss of Cleveland, Ohio; aunts and uncles Ellen Cohen of Houston, Texas; Bev Rosen of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Bobby and Cathy Weiss of Tallahassee, Florida; Jerry Weiner of Andover, Massachusetts; Tracy Kay Harris of Peoria, Illinois; and Milton and Ricki Frankfort of Houston, Texas. Daniel is also survived by many wonderful and cherished cousins. He is also survived by his children's significant others, John Poremski and Amanda Arends. Daniel was predeceased by beloved grandparents, Ellis and Elaine Rippner, Benjamin Weiss, Anne Rosenberg; brother Michael David Weiss; beloved uncle Lyon Cohen and beloved aunt Cathy Weiner. Daniel attended Bellaire Highschool in Houston, Texas, where he excelled as part of the award-winning Bellaire Debate Team. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and began his work in the security industry in Boston, Massachusetts, eventually settling in Houston to raise his family and build his career. There are no words to express the depth of our loss. His heart, soul, strength and light will shine through his beautiful children and bonds of friendship he forged. He left us many gifts of humor and laughter which will sustain us. He loved nothing more than the sound of his children laughing together, especially if he was the source of this laughter. This man could laugh at himself like no other. He loved and cherished his friends, extended family and fencing family. All of you helped to sustain and keep him here as long as he was. His family is so very thankful. The family would also like to thank the ICU-E staff of Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital for their efforts and care.
