Carol Lane Ringold

Carol Lane Ringold, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2024, in Houston, Texas. Born on April 30, 1946, in Brownwood, Texas to the late Jack and Rhea Lane, she moved with her family to Houston, Texas in 1947. She attended Roberts Elementary School, Pershing Middle School, and graduated from Bellaire High School as a member of the Class of 1964. During her early years, Carol would often spend time after school helping her parents run their store, Harris Men & Boys Wear, located in the Rice Village. Following high school, she attended the University of Texas in Austin, where she joined the Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. After a brief time at Ohio State University, Carol graduated from the University of Houston in 1968 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education and promptly began teaching 4th grade at Bunker Hill Elementary. Carol met the love of her life, Louis Ringold, in June of 1968, marrying him on December 28, 1969. After several years off following the birth of her children, Carol returned to work in 1981 as a buyer for The Children’s Collection, and then worked for M.M. Designs. She returned to her true calling of childhood education in 1990, teaching 4th grade math and science at Walnut Bend Elementary for the next 20 years. Following her retirement in 2010, she routinely served as a substitute at Walnut Bend, St. John’s School, and The Shlenker School until 2023. Carol cherished the close and enduring friendships she forged with her fellow teachers at Walnut Bend. Carol was a proud member of the Beta Omicron chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the breakfast club, and Congregation Beth Yeshurun. She spent 8 years serving on the Board of Directors of the Briargrove Park Property Owners Association, serving as both President and Secretary. She regularly volunteered at Kids’ Meals. She loved spending time with her dear friends, whether it was playing Mah Jong with one of her regular weekly groups or taking weekend trips with the “Grits”. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Rhea Lane. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Louis; her children, Julie Ringold Price (and her husband Andrew) and Daniel Ringold (and his wife Melanie); her grandchildren, Lindsey Price, Lilly Price, Jack Ringold, and Ashley Ringold; her brother, David Lane (and his wife Helaine); brother-in-law Alan Ringold (and his wife Jeanette); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she loved with her whole heart and who loved her back without limit. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sophie and Jack Bender Memorial Chapel at the Beth Yeshurun Post Oak Cemetery, 7445 Awty School Lane, Houston, TX 77055. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in memory of Carol Ringold be directed to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. P.O.
