Brian Lord

Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Locke Brother, Uncle to many, and Friend to everyone who ever met him passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Brian was born in Queens, New York on February 1, 1951 to Lester and Beatrice Lord and survived by his sister, Patty Lord. Brian went on to graduate from Case Western Reserve before receiving his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical School. Brian proudly served the cities of New York, Philadelphia and Houston for 40 years, practicing Urology and healing the sick, all while putting patients at ease with his sense of humor and unquestionable knowledge of the human plumbing system. Brian had a long list of passions throughout his extraordinary life. He loved golf, even though it didn't love him back. After retirement, he rekindled his love for Bridge, further cementing his transition to full blown "Alta-Cocker". He loved his Jewish heritage and was proud to pass that love down to his children and grandchildren. He loved to travel the world and experience different cultures. He loved a good "dad joke". In fact some even say he invented the genre. He loved mystery novels and procedurals. He loved Blues music and Little Feat. He loved Mel Brooks movies as well as Dolph Lundgren movies, lamenting the fact that they never worked together. He loved the act of "giving", whether it was his precious time to his children after a long day of surgeries or donating to those in need- his generosity knew no bounds. He loved collecting- sports memorabilia, cars, wine, and memories. He often had a camera hanging around his neck and would spend countless hours uploading images, partly because he was computer illiterate but also, because it just allowed him to marinate in the landscapes and the people he captured for a little while longer. Most of all, though, Brian loved his family. His wife, Marlene, was his soul mate, his travel buddy, his boss- his everything. And she, in turn, took the words "in sickness and in health" to unheard levels of devotion. His children, Jeremy and Eric, consider themselves to be the two luckiest sons on the planet, never wanting for anything and always knowing he had their backs no matter what. He was equally devoted to his two daughters-in-law, Stacy and Valerie. His grandchildren, Landon, Mason, Jolene, and Sebastian will grow up with the greatest role model anyone could ask for in a Grandfather, or human being for that matter. His family truly was his crowning achievement, and his legacy will live on through them. So the next time you're on the golf course and hear someone yell "fore", followed by the wickedest slice you've ever seen, think of Brian. But more importantly, the next time you witness an act of kindness or love, think of Brian and smile... The Lord family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to Jackie Grizzle and her entire team at Onesta Care for taking care of Brian during his last year. He battled a remarkably cruel disease, and Jackie's care and determination allowed his final days to unfold with dignity and compassion. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in the Sophia and Jack Bender Memorial Chapel at Beth Yeshurun Post Oak Cemetery, 7445 Awty School Ln., Houston, Texas 77055. A private burial will follow.
